Artist Statement

I am a sculptor and work in a contemporary style. Most of my influences have come from my peers, modern and antiquity sculpture from around the world, and the few Native American sculptors who have worked within the last century. I am constantly striving to learn and develop new techniques and ideas to use in my sculpture. My sculpture blends a figurative approach with a more form and design oriented style. I believe it is this blending of styles that has helped me to understand the importance of form as well as the power of realism.

The subjects of my sculptures have always been related to Native American themes. My focus is on the Pueblo experience, whether it be capturing the solace of a song or prayer in stone or the playful mischief of a Koshari, these are the images that inspire me.

My long-term goals are to continue to support my family with my artwork, and to maintain growth as an artist.
